I'm looking for a really basic pattern for a baby beanie... I'm a beginner, so nothing too fancy!!
LOL!
Also, if you have any tips regarding making baby beanies, that would be great!
Thanks!

Re: Baby Beanie
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 3:25 PMusing double pointed needles
cast on 64 stitches and divide evenly amongst needles, leaving one to knit with. this should be okay for a newborn, if you want bigger increase cast on by 8 stitches, or 16 stitches
knit for about 4-5" (or as long as you want the hat to be)
knit one row placing a marker every eighth stitches
knit a row, decreasing with a k2tog at every marker
knit one row
repeat the decrease row
knit one row
follow the decrease pattern til you have only a 3 or 4 stitches left. thread yarn through those stitches and pull to close hole.
alternatively you could knit an i cord at the top. google i-cord and you should get hits with video demos.
Even more basic than that:
Knit a long rectangle, same as you would a scarf. Then fold it in half lengthways and seam up the sides. Voila! square hat.
