Hi,
Does anyone know of a site or pattern for a simple knitted overskirt. It is knitted to go over a flowered skirt or something like that, thanks for any help.

Re: Knitted Overskirt
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 7:56 PMWell, there's the skirt from this dress:

I can't find any patterns with a quick google search. But a few people are using capelets as short overskirts -- if you want a lacy effect, maybe you could pick a nice cape pattern and then just make it longer?

Re: Knitted Overskirt
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 1:03 AMI used to have some crochet patterns that made holey skirts that one might prefer to wear with a slip (or flowered underskirt). Pretty much any crocheted (or I guess knitted) lace table-cloth or large doily pattern that starts from the center out would work. Although it might take some math...you could figure out and plan for a "waist" opening by measuring your waist and starting with whichever row of the pattern looks to fall at about that circumference (make a plaquet for closing and so you can get it over your hips).
Alternatively if you can stand it you could purchase a suitable crocheted table cloth in Chinatown (I live in San Francisco...hence the suggestion) and just cut out a hole in the center after re-inforced machine stitching around the circumference you want for a waist. I've done this a few times over the years (was very popular in the late 60s) and its a quick way to get the look I think you're wanting. You can dye the resulting "skirt" as well if you're careful to buy cotton.

Thu, December 27, 2007 - 8:12 AMThanks for the suggestions. I saw it in a movie and though it was either crocheted or knitted, but I never though of a dolie pattern and expand it.
once again thanks
