Anyone ever used 1824 wool? What did you make? Did you like it? Did you felt it by chance?

I am thinking of using it to make a felted purse. A few of you had shared some awesome patterns in this post:

I'll probably improvise a few different patterns. I want to use the Earth brown from the yarn link above, with some complementary stripes of varying widths.
The yarn is a nice price and just the tones and hues I wanted! : )

Re: 1824 Wool, Have you used it?
Tue, July 3, 2007 - 7:12 PMIt says superwash, m'dear.
I just made a Sophie bag with Cascade 220. Felted like a dream. Gorgeous color selection. Half the price of the 824 ($7.50 at my LYS for 100g).
Oh, Sophie is here:

Tue, July 3, 2007 - 8:15 PMHi Dragon!
ROTFLOL!!!!! I didn't even see the Superwash mention!! LOL!! I would've been throwing that thing in the wash over and over and over and making the water hotter and hotter and hotter...in the end just had a really big goofy looking bag and growling every time I looked at it.
Goodness!! Thanks for saving me that drama!
: )
Cascade is good standby, but I was just looking to try something a bit heavier and something new. But I think Cascade it will be! -

Re: 1824 Wool, Have you used it?
Fri, July 6, 2007 - 8:42 AMI've used it, and I hated it. Felt to me like the carpet yarn we used to get at the 5&Dime back in the day...not much bounce or give to this yarn, so hard on the hands to work...scratchy, sheeny, splits easily (many plies). Won't use it again (and as you've discovered, it won't felt...but if you knit something in it (say slippers) that get a lot of wear and tear it will flatten down and be unrevivable. -

Re: 1824 Wool, Have you used it?
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 10:03 AMYikes, really, thanks so much my dears, you saved me a very crabby attempt at a felted bag, lol! It would have not only felted, it would have looked awful and made me think bad words while I knitted it...I can't stand yarn that splits.
Cascade it is! -

Re: 1824 Wool, Have you used it?
Thu, July 12, 2007 - 6:33 PMI enjoy knitting it, and have made a sweater body from it, with Fleece Artist BFL sleeves.. the sleeves pilled horribly, but the body has been fine.
We use it to teach beginner's and technique classes, as it ISN'T as splitty as many yarns, comes in brilliant colours, and is squooshy enough to cope with uneven tension, but smooth enough to see!
I'm a fan of the wool... but the cotton? Meh :)

Thu, July 12, 2007 - 7:22 PMAs far as I'm concerned, all cotton is "Meh." :) -

Sat, July 14, 2007 - 11:41 AMI'm a cotton junky, embarrassed to say! LOL! I don't have a dishwasher, so I've become spoiled by knitted cotton dishcloths. -

Re: 1824 Wool, Have you used it?
Sat, July 14, 2007 - 2:04 PMThose are my one cotton exception. In fact, I gave my friend a choice of handknitted objects for her Christmas present, and she chose 6 cloths (I sent her 9, they were so much fun). -
