I just posted this in the Knit 'n Purl tribe. Just thought I'd try here too...
Has anyone here made the Magic Shawl in Twinkle's Big City Knits? I'm kinda stumped at the grafting the second cable length to the ribbing.
Alternately, when a pattern says, "sew sts of k2, p2 rib to long edge of Cable B (the second cable length), taking care to work into each live stitch of rib." Meaning, this is grafting a row of live stitches to a side edge.
I've figured out that I'm supposed to use a separate piece of yarn to sew the pieces together. I've figured out the technique of sewing these pieces together. The thing I'm stumped on is I'm trying to sew 66 sts perpendicularly to a length of 126 rows. Do I just fudge it by skipping over some rows here and there? Or is there a secret to spreading it out to make the ends match up?
I'm a less than beginner knitter. I knit squares, tubes, can decrease/increase and just learned cables. I've never attempted a garment before and thought a shawl would be a good starter. Gah. I do like the big yarn/big needles though. Knits up fast!
Thanks for any advice!

Re: Twinkle's Magic Shawl (x-posted)
Sun, April 12, 2009 - 3:18 PMI haven't seen this one, but maybe you can try ravelry.com just type in Magic Shawl, then contact knitters who actually worked on this.
Good Luck
