Or is everyone on the Ravelry thingy?
Just wanted to hear about cool knitting projects you've been working on. I've been knitting shortie mitts (fingerless gloves that are wristlength) and basic hats (decreasing to points on top) for holiday gifts.
Went to Michael's for 2 for $5 soft Red Heart acrylic yarn. Surprizingly soft in great colors. I always hated acrylic, but been finding some nice dark colors and it's easy to work with. JoAnn's had a similar sale recently for Vanna White yarns. Who knew Vanna was all into the yarn? ;}
I've gone yarn crazy. Not only do I have a whole suitcase full of hand-dyed wools and specialty yarns, I've now got about 3 bags of acrylics to work with. And now people are giving me yarn! :D

Re: Anyone here?
Thu, December 18, 2008 - 6:27 PMModern-day acrylics are nothing like the stuff our parents and grandparents used 30 years ago. I've done a couple of Baby Surprise Jackets with Plymouth Encore (or maybe it's Patons Decor; I think of them as being interchangeable, so I'm not sure without going downstairs) and they're well-loved. And the sweaters I make for my nephews each Christmas are always acrylic or an acrylic/wool blend, and the boys love 'em.
I finished an "ASJ" (he's 5, so not exactly an adult) for Nephew A for Christmas and am *cough* still working on Nephew B's top-down raglan. I'm also working on a really plain cardie for myself that has only one nice detail - a column of embossed hearts down the left. VERY happy with it, and annoyed that I kinda need to finish B's sweater before I finish my sleeves. Hopefully I'll get both done by next Th :) -

Fri, December 19, 2008 - 2:32 AMI knit with whatever works for what I'm knitting. Right now I can't afford wool so it's acrylic. ITA with Dragon the new acrylics are far superior to grandma's. I made hats out of acrylics I had for Christmas presents and I'm sure they'll be worn.

Re: Anyone here?
Fri, December 19, 2008 - 5:58 AMThere was a sale on yarn at Fred Meyer's (our local Kroger chain), three for the price of two, so I got organic cotton and 100% wool on sale. Even not on sale, I've found some of the natural fibers for not a lot more than acrylic.
