Has anyone done a Mystery along around here?
One person has the pattern. Tells the joiners what size needles and how much of what kind of yarn they have to have.
Once a week you check in to get a section of the pattern.. of if everyone is struggling with a certain stitch, we help get the stragglers caught up before getting the new section
This seems to work best with shawls and so on, so that you don't have to worry about sizing.
Anyone want to do one?

I was thinking about it, because my hands are showing early signs of Carpal Tunnel now... Since I am a professional typist. I have to up the ante with other hand activities to hopefully stave it off by working other muscles in my hands

I haven't done a mystery one (done a couple of sock ones, but had the pattern ahead of time) but I like the idea of it being a 'surprise' at the end. -

Sun, July 1, 2007 - 1:07 AMI'm thinking about starting this in August. I have to find a new job first. By the end of July, I will have the pattern picked out, as well as the yardage of the yarn and the size needles.. I probably won't do a gauge calc, because my goal is to have everyone get their favorite kind of yarn for it. I will probably let you know what weight would work best and then let everyone chose their own fiber.
This way everyone's mystery piece looks more individual.
Then, I'll post new parts to the mystery every couple of weeks, so all speeds and schedules of knitters are accomodated.

It's both... I'm doing a mystery kal for a shawl, and everyone is using a different yarn... different needles etc... its fun, and the designs can be simple to intricate... depending on the designer! -

Sat, August 4, 2007 - 3:46 PMI should have a pattern selected here rather soon. I just got a new job, so thinking about my hobbies hasn't been there... AND.. I figure for this... we can give it until oh.... Christmas to finish.. This way there is now having to knit when you really don't have time.

The bad news first.. I am still unprepared.. The good news.. that "new job" I got with my last post.. turned out to be a utter disaster.. I've since switched jobs again and am in training for that job for at least another 2 weeks. I'm hoping I will have something together soon.. So it can be worked into christmas knitting for some folks.
