My grandma gave me two skeins of wool yarn, yummy to the touch, chunky weight. One is a bark brown, the other a deep mossy green. They are 4 oz each. Anyone got any ideas? I wonder if it is enough for that felted bag I wanted to try. If I make it up as I go, I could make it enough maybe. Not sure how well it will felt, a paper tag says "Tall Yarns - 100% Wool - Made in Canada" and that's it.

Re: Ideas for Chunky Wool Yarn?
Fri, May 25, 2007 - 6:39 PMUsually, 100% wool will felt well. I would suggest knitting a small shawtch and throwing it through the wash to test it out. That way, you'll know before hand how much it felts, if it felts, and if you have enough to make the bag larger than a coin purse post-felting ;o)
Another thing you can do is make a cap with the yarn. I love using chunky yarns for hats; they end up so comfy!! -

Sat, May 26, 2007 - 11:51 AMYou know, honestly, I read that and my head saw the words "shawl swatch". Which made perfect sense, except when you remember that the thread was for chunky yarn.... -
