I saw an awesome knitted shoulder bag, a deep brown yarn with two bright stripes across it horizontally. It was felted. It looked so fun. Anyone know of any free online knitting patterns for felted purses or tote bags? I don't want to just do a long panel, folded in half and sewn up the sides, I'd like a bottom for it so it can sit and has more bottom space, if that makes sense!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Tue, April 17, 2007 - 8:02 PMI found this one the other day: www.straw.com/cpy/pattern...en-felt.html I think I'd like it without the flowers. I think I'd like to try it with Cascade 220. Any ideas how much I'd need? -

Wed, April 18, 2007 - 3:31 AMI like the French Market bag from knitty. I don't have a favorite yarn for felting just whatever I pick up from the farmers market. -

Re: Felted Purse or Bag Pattern
Fri, April 20, 2007 - 10:32 AMSalihah - have you ever used Malabrigo yarn? It felts better than anything else I've tried and I'm addicted to the stuff. It's hand-dyed, hand spun Merino and cheaper than other brands I've used. I always use a double strand when I'm going to felt it.
I find that yarn with a looser, softer finish felt better than those that look a little shiny or are stiffer. Malabrigo has that. Most of the colors are variegated but the effect in felting is really pretty. The Noro wools work really well too. -

Fri, April 20, 2007 - 6:02 PMI have to second this opinion about Malabrigo. Its just lovely (to knit with and to felt with).
